Hammer Down

The great hammerhead shark can be found worldwide in tropical locations. The average size of a great hammerhead is 4.1m but they have been known to reach 6.1m! Unlike other hammerhead sharks such as the scalloped hammerhead, the greats are primarily solitary animals.
Their wide shaped heads are laced with many electrical receptors which assists them in hunting and locating prey. Great hammerheads have even been known to prey on small and juvenile sharks including scalloped hammerheads.

This Great Hammerhead is patrolling the coral ledge, scouting out its next meal.
