Inspired by Cubism this painting is executed during a migraine. I suffer constant migraines due to a congenital eye disorder. I paint during a migraine to ease the pain a little. It becomes a medatative practise whereby I go into a trance like state. Here I can distance myself from the intense pain and focus on something very healing, painting. I painted all the way through the migraine as it was not as intense as many others that plague my body. Here In this painting I depict myself entranced in Reiki to both negate the pain and shield myself from the aura. The aura can last quite a way into my migraine it reveals itself as sparkling bright balls of light. The light is captivating at first, it flirts with me drawing me into its grip. Then the darkness crawls over me and I need to take shelter until the storm blows over.
