Drawing on paper
Signed on the front.
This is my first flower artwork. I have wanted to try creating some flower artworks for a while now using my technique. As my partner is a photographer, I was able to get him to photograph some flowers that I bought from a florist.
I chose these pink Carnations as I love all the different shapes and folds their petals create. They are akin to drapery. This results in lots of variety in shade and colour. I chose to have a black background as they are a soft pink, and I wanted to give them a bit more of a dramatic look.
There is a lot of symbolism around Carnations, and they have become a favourite for Mother's Day.
I decided to draw the flowers using my technique of outlining in black fine-liner. This will make my flower artworks more recognisable as works by me. The dimensions are for the drawing, there is also a white border around it for framing. The paper dimensions are 76 x 56cm. The colours in the scan and photo are close, but not 100% accurate.
The styled scene is not 100% to scale, although it is pretty close. Note that the artwork is unframed, unlike how it is shown in the scene.
