Artwork Description

Drawing on paper

Signed on the back.

This is ink with ink brash and ink via ink felt pens. The ink is unforgiving and mistakes can't be fixed or erased. The previous red head took 3 goes this one only took 2 goes to get it right. The lines in between are done with a felt pen with water and fade resistant ink.

The design is from the front cover of the redheads matches, match book. The design was used around 1947 on the front cover of the brymay matches, made in Australia. This design was reused a few more times in the 2000's

The original was drawn on 110 gsm but then glued onto 600gsm stock.

Two main characters from the comic books, Asterix and Oberlix posing. Oberlix is holding his tiny dog, "Dogmatix"A hand which is slightly dirty holding an engagement ring. The image is made from fabric some patterned and plain, glued on a black clothPortrait of a HorseTwo women, one in staring into space contemplating her next move, the other calm and relaxed eyes shut mid slow blink and closer to the viewer. This is all fabric and is referred to as Fabric Art or Textile Art. The women were from a comic book, and were based on Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell from the 1960's. My inspiration for textile art is Bisa Butler whose works are amazing.
