Splendor Solis

An exuberant bouquet of native flowers painted in joyful colours of scarlet, violet, turquoise and soft pastel neutrals. It features a heady blend of native Australian brunia albiflora, pink ice proteas, fountain pincushions and melaleuca. There are many layers and washes in this piece and gestural marks of oil pastel add movement and energy. It is full of joy and harmonious colour!

This is a diptych of 2 separate canvases that can be hung next to each other or with space in between. Each canvas is stretched, unframed and ready to hang. Painted with artist-quality 'Matisse' acrylics, the work is signed and also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

I live in the south-west of Western Australia and all my work references the beauty of our landscapes and flora. If you feel uplifted from my work, I've done a good job!

I live in the south-west of Western Australia, a magnificent pocket of paradise with sparkling waters, pure winds, cooling forests and famous surf-breaks.

With a BA in Design, I worked for many years overseas in the graphic arts but felt increasingly disillusioned working in the urban corporate environment. I happily gave it up, travelled the world, started a family and returned to something more visceral: paint and brushes.

Art has always been my first love, I've always been creating and this time round, to create artworks with acrylics is a fulfilling and dynamic blend of both personal transformation and the vehicle to bring more beauty into the world.

I use artist quality Derivan Matisse acrylics which are a fabulous Australian brand with many distinctly Australian hues and my paintings are finished with a high quality semi-gloss varnish to seal, protect and enhance the artwork.
