Artwork Description

GEOMETRICAL N.4 by Eva Johnova
122 × 122 × 3.8 cm

This artwork has been created by cutting geometric patterns from recycled polystyrene, dipping them in a plaster mixture, and arranging them on canvas in various patterns.
The use of geometric and linear elements gives the piece a modern look and feel.
The interplay of lines and geometry lends the work a contemporary presence, while the subtle variation in the height of each element creates shifting shadows that change with the light and the viewer’s movement.

The surface is finished in a natural matte texture reminiscent of raw concrete, softly tinted in a light cappuccino colour.
Deliberate imperfections and organic markings honour the material’s authenticity, giving the artwork a distinct sculptural character.

Strongly architectural in feel yet quietly poetic, this piece transforms with its environment—appearing lighter and more delicate in bright spaces, and deeper, with more dramatic shadowing, in dimmer settings.
The work is ready to hang, with colour continued around the edges for a seamless presentation.
The artwork is already profesionally framed in beautiful oak wooden frame ( cost of frame itself was $800 )
This artwork can also be repainted in any colour palette of your choice, allowing it to be tailored to your space and vision.

Artist Bio

Eva Johnova is a Slovakian born abstract artist residing on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Growing up Eva has always had an artistic side which she initially expressed through her work as a make-up artist in Paris, London and Edinburgh. Since moving to Australia she has expanded her horizons and moved into the world of contemporary abstract art and design.

Nature is Eva’s greatest inspiration – especially the rich colours and textures from the mountains of her childhood in Slovakia and both the natural beauty of the Australian outback and the many beaches around Australia. Her earliest pieces involved working with found objects such as old furniture, books, newspapers to create environmentally sensitive works of art. She then took inspiration from the ethereal beauty of feathers. She has been using the natural material and also delicate hand-crafted paper feathers, during her previous design phase.

As Eva's creative spirits have soared, she has returned more and more to her inspiration from the natural beauty to be found in the outback and beaches of Australia. Eva has been inspired to create the beautiful resin artworks that mimic both the beautiful waves crashing on the sandy beaches which the Northern Beaches of Sydney are famous for as well as the contrasting beauty of the harsh ruggedness of the outback meeting the smoothness of the ocean.
