Artwork Description

PEACOCK BLOOM by Eva Johnova

A unique “PEACOCK BLOOM”, beautifully framed in a natural wood frame (93 × 93 × 6cm).

A black or white frame option is available on request.

“PEACOCK BLOOM” is a uniquely original 3D abstract artwork inspired by the magnificent colours and feather details of the peacock, combined with the layered aesthetic of traditional Juju hats.

Juju hats originated in Africa and are traditionally worn during ceremonies as decorative headpieces symbolising wealth and prosperity. Feathers are also widely regarded as symbols of spiritual evolution and ascension to a higher plane.

The beautiful combination of turquoise, aqua, green and blue gives this artwork a fresh and vibrant feel, while the circular design creates a sense of movement and balance.

This piece is composed of hundreds of individually crafted, hand-cut and hand-painted paper feathers. Each feather is painted with high-quality acrylic paint and carefully layered onto a premium white canvas to create a unique 3D design.

The artwork is not placed behind glass or Perspex, as it is created as a 3D paper collage on top of the canvas, allowing the textures and dimensional elements to be fully experienced.

From a distance, the artwork may appear like a painting or print, but as you move closer, the individual feathers, layers and 3D details become more visible.

The feathers are made from high-quality, thick multimedia paper and painted with high-quality acrylics. The canvas is first coated with white gesso, then finished with multiple layers of pure white acrylic paint to ensure a bright, clean background.

The completed artwork is sealed with several layers of MICADOR matte artist spray, an invisible protective coating that provides a soft, permanent barrier against dirt, moisture, salt and staining.

Due to the quality of the paint, paper and canvas, I have not observed any noticeable dust accumulation on the artwork.

PLEASE NOTE: Colours and hues may appear differently depending on monitor settings, mobile devices or tablets. The artwork will appear darker in spaces with limited daylight and brighter, with more vibrant colours, in well-lit environments.

All pieces for sale are original and one-of-a-kind.

Artist Bio

Eva Johnova is a Slovakian born abstract artist residing on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Growing up Eva has always had an artistic side which she initially expressed through her work as a make-up artist in Paris, London and Edinburgh. Since moving to Australia she has expanded her horizons and moved into the world of contemporary abstract art and design.

Nature is Eva’s greatest inspiration – especially the rich colours and textures from the mountains of her childhood in Slovakia and both the natural beauty of the Australian outback and the many beaches around Australia. Her earliest pieces involved working with found objects such as old furniture, books, newspapers to create environmentally sensitive works of art. She then took inspiration from the ethereal beauty of feathers. She has been using the natural material and also delicate hand-crafted paper feathers, during her previous design phase.

As Eva's creative spirits have soared, she has returned more and more to her inspiration from the natural beauty to be found in the outback and beaches of Australia. Eva has been inspired to create the beautiful resin artworks that mimic both the beautiful waves crashing on the sandy beaches which the Northern Beaches of Sydney are famous for as well as the contrasting beauty of the harsh ruggedness of the outback meeting the smoothness of the ocean.
