Red Centre in Winter

This is the spectacular Roma Gorge in the West Macdonnell Ranges of Northern Territory. It is a secluded oasis, a long walk off the beaten track; home to birds, reptiles and frogs. Standing here I can almost imagine the dinosaurs coming for a drink; it is truly ancient and stark. I have painted this scene in acrylic using mostly a palette knife plus a little broad brushwork and splattering.
