Artemis and the Hounds

in mythology, Artemis is the goddess of wild animals, hunting, the woods, wilderness, chastity, childbirth, nurturing and the Moon. She is always depicted with her hunting dogs around her. In this contemporary depiction she is a defender of the environment, seen in a moody landscape and wearing a green scarf to signify her attachment to nature. She scrutinises the viewer.

Eveline is a Dutch-born artist who grew up in rural Western Australia. Her paintings intertwine a love of nature and the luminous qualities of oil paint and are woven with themes of empathy, transformation and human-animal relationships. Eveline trained in Visual Arts at Edith Cowan University (Bachelor of Contemporary Arts graduate 2020) and was awarded the Louise Macfie Painting Prize in 2019.
