This painting was a finalist in the 2023 Kennedy Art Prize for works that comment on or embody the theme of Beauty. Sleeping Dogs and The Moon is inspired by the forms of whippets sleeping in a pile. Dogs inhabit the border between the human world and the wild. They are creatures of comfort as well as creatures of the spirit realm.
