Artwork Description

This piece is part of a series that takes inspiration from the earthy palette of the Tasmanian bush—rich greens and muted olives layered with rusty reds and hints of copper, capturing the interplay of light and shadow and the depth of colour that can be found in the Tasmanian landscape.

Artist Bio

My name is Evelyn, I am a visual art teacher and artist, living and working in Tasmania, Australia. Working primarily in acrylics on canvas, my work is an exploration of colour, light and layers. I am captivated by the endless possibilities of colour and the delicate nuances that can arise from slight adjustments to tone and hue. My inspiration comes from observations of my everyday surroundings, from the constantly shifting light on the landscape, water and sky to the luminous blur of the city. I achieve tonal depth and the illusion of translucency through a process of careful colour mixing and layering. Abstraction has allowed me to create dramatic and dynamic compositions while giving the viewer space to interpret each painting based on their own unique perspectives.
