Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by a recent summer hike through Victoria’s Alpine Country. Golden hour has always been my favourite time of day, and on this occasion it felt especially magical. Warkwoolowler/Mount Bogong, (as viewed from Roper's Hut) glowed softly above a valley carpeted with wildflowers, alive with colour and movement. There was a pulse in the landscape—where a richness of light and life flowed through. This painting seeks to capture a part of the wonder I felt in that moment.

Artist Bio

I am a Melbourne (Naarm)‑based landscape painter whose practice explores the emotional experience of place. Working between realism and impressionism, my paintings aim to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt when immersed in the natural world. Australia’s vast and varied landscapes continue to inspire me — from dense rainforests and arid desert interiors to the familiar bushland close to home. It is often the quieter, transient moments within these environments that draw me in: a shift in light, a pause in weather, or a sense of stillness that invites reflection.
Through painting, I seek to distil these moments — responding to energy, atmosphere, and memory — and translate them into works that hold space for contemplation. My intention is to create paintings that resonate emotionally, offering viewers a moment of connection with the landscape and with their own experience of it.
