Artwork Description

Sipping the Tea captures a quiet, intimate moment of reflection. Painted in oils on canvas, the work centres on a figure holding a teacup and a book, suggesting ritual, solitude, and private thought. Rich tones of burgundy, plum, deep blue and teal move through the composition, creating a moody, expressive atmosphere.

The painting balances softness and mystery, with the pale hands and simple objects drawing the viewer into a scene that feels both personal and open to interpretation. Sipping the Tea invites us to pause and consider the small, inward moments that often say the most.

Artist Bio

Creating art from an early age, Fai Browning has spent over 25 years developing her artistic practice. With a background in portraiture, her work has recently evolved into a more abstract and expressive style, centred on figures and stylised faces.

Layering bold colour, texture and mark-making with drawn figurative elements, Fai creates works that sit between abstraction and portraiture. Her paintings explore the tension between spontaneity and control, using the human form as a way to express mood, presence and emotion.
