Softly Kept explores the meeting place between body, memory, and landscape. Layers of botanical forms, handwritten fragments, and soft earthy colour build a surface that feels both intimate and alive. A gestural figure moves through the composition like something remembered — partially revealed, partially absorbed into the surrounding world. This work speaks to softness, growth, and the quiet power held in vulnerability.

Creating art from an early age, Fai Browning has spent over 25 years developing her artistic practice. With a background in portraiture, her work has recently evolved into a more abstract and expressive style, centred on figures and stylised faces.

Layering bold colour, texture and mark-making with drawn figurative elements, Fai creates works that sit between abstraction and portraiture. Her paintings explore the tension between spontaneity and control, using the human form as a way to express mood, presence and emotion.
