Artist Bio

Chris Farrell : Artist Bio
Chris Farrell is an abstract artist who has been creating for many years and in the last few years her style has evolved.
Her innovative use of alcohol inks and pen creates dynamic, visually striking works that explore the intersection of fluidity and precision. Drawing inspiration from both organic forms and the intricacies of the human experience, their artwork blends the unpredictable movement of alcohol inks with the meticulous detail of pen lines, resulting in a harmonious balance of chaos and order.
Through the bold, vibrant pigments of alcohol ink, Chris Farrell captures the essence of emotion and energy, allowing the colours to flow freely across the surface, while their intricate pen work adds structure, depth, and contrast. The combination of these two mediums reflects the artist’s fascination with the tension between spontaneity and control, where the fluidity of ink merges with the defined lines of pen to create powerful, abstract compositions.
Each piece is a journey, with the ink flowing unpredictably, guided by the artist’s hand but always subject to the medium’s natural tendencies. The pen work then acts as both a guide and a counterpoint, adding layers of detail, structure, and storytelling to the abstract forms. Whether capturing the essence of a dreamscape, a fleeting emotion, or a snapshot of nature, Chris Farrell's work invites viewers to explore a rich, textured world full of movement, rhythm, and complexity.
With a deep appreciation for both the freedom and the discipline inherent in their creative process, her work serves as an exploration of personal expression, emotional resonance, and the beauty that lies in the unexpected. Through the marriage of alcohol ink and pen, they continue to push the boundaries of abstract art, inviting viewers to experience a captivating visual dialogue between spontaneity and structure.
She regularly exhibits for the ASPIR group in Cowes and also PICES group who regularly have exhbitions on Phillip Island.
Her works have received numerous awards as recent as “ Winner of Other Medium “ at the Aspir Art Exhibition Cup weekend 2024.
