Ballarat based, contemporary mixed media artist, Fiona Allen, has been drawing, colouring, creating, taking photo’s and attending pottery classes since she can remember. But it wasn’t until 2020 when Fiona picked up a paint brush and fell in love with painting. She now paints fulltime in her home studio.
Fiona draws her inspiration from nature and her travels within Australia and abroad. Fiona tells a story within her paintings about being connected to nature and the freedom she experiences whilst being in nature and painting. Fiona’s paintings are fun, colourful and exudes happiness.
Fiona uses layers of opaque and transparent acrylic paints to create pattern and texture in her abstract landscapes and botanical scenes, this is also combined with inks, oils sticks and crayons.
A lover of colour and texture, painting offers an escape from the everyday life where she can immerse herself in her paintings, experiencing the freedom it provides enjoying the journey to paint intuitively from images real, imagined and dreamt.
