I have just recently decided to sell on Bluethumb and I hope you enjoy my art. I am a mixed media artist living in Moreton Bay, Queensland. I have held successful art exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and have continued to experiment and form an instinctive relationship with my mixed media of oils ,wax, photos, ash and sand. Though commitments to my family and work have led to time away from doing art, I've always come back to refining and extending my art practice when any opportunity arises. Over the last couple of years I have won prizes and been a selected artist for many art competitions in and around Brisbane.
My concern and affection for the environment is reflected with my abstract landscapes and portraits of people connected to their environment. The paintings are translucent and layered and reveal details of tidal patterns, remnants of mangroves and water ripples. As I walk every few days along estuaries close to me, I absorb the tidal and seasonal changes, as well as the impact of climate with storm surges and washed up debris. I take photos, pick up and remove washed up plastic, and feel more calm and connected to the water and bush. My work is very time consuming due to the etching and polishing of details onto the paraffin wax however this process is meditative and rewarding for me.
I have been selling my mixed media paintings for over twenty years and they are extremely durable and able to withstand temperature ranges up to 70 degrees. Buyers have art hanging in Northern Queensland and South East Asia and have had no problem with high humidity and heat levels.
