Artwork Description

"The Sunken Rainbow" is a deeply textured abstract mixed-media painting that explores the concepts of symmetry, reflection, and hidden depths. Divided by a bold, central horizontal horizon line, the composition juxtaposes an exposed, glowing upper realm with a dark, submerged mirror image below. An elongated arch, evoking a stylized rainbow or portal stretches across the canvas. In the top half, it radiates with earthy ochre, amber, and deep green tones, adorned with delicate, shimmering stippled details that mimic falling rain or starlight. Below the dividing line, the arch plunges into a murky, dark expanse. This sunken reflection is dramatically bound by heavy, horizontal black linear elements with raised, tactile droplets, suggesting a subaquatic barrier, a structural cage, or the rhythmic ripples of deep water. Richly layered textures and metallic, organic undertones give the piece a rustic, ancient, yet undeniably contemporary feel. It serves as a powerful statement piece for modern interiors, inviting viewers to contemplate what lies beneath the surface.

Artist Bio

I see the world in shapes and colours. With more than 30 years of experience as a creator, my art is the result of a life lived across borders and cultures. Having lived overseas and travelled widely, I’ve found that painting is the only way I can truly express myself without words. It has been my loyal companion through every season of change, giving me energy and a sense of purpose. I am deeply in love with the process of creating something new, the journey of the brush is just as important as the finished piece. My work is an intuitive response to the sights and sounds that surround me, inviting the viewer to join me in that sensory exploration. I am deeply in love with the process of creating something new, which is why I’ve learned to trust spontaneity and embrace imperfection. My work is a visceral response to my environment, not a literal record of it; it is a way of seeing the world for myself, rather than recording how others expect me to see it. By letting the energy of the moment guide my hand, I make room for the intuitive marks that define my journey. Each piece is a sensory dialogue............a response to sound, sight, and the raw joy of the unscripted path.
