Artwork Description

This artwork features a vertical arrangement of narrow, hand‑cut paper strips in deep black and soft grey tones. The strips are layered closely together, forming a tall, irregular column that appears both structured and fluid. Each strip carries unique hand‑drawn marks—clusters of circular motifs, flowing curved lines, and delicate, almost vein‑like details. These surface patterns create a sense of movement and rhythm across the collage, with lighter marks emerging against the dark background.
The influence of patterns, layering, collage, and organic forms is strongly evident. The layering creates a subtle depth, as the overlapping strips cast slight shadows and build a textured visual field. The collage technique emphasizes the physicality of the materials, the edges, seams, and varying lengths become central to the composition. Through the marks on the paper, the work evokes organic forms, reminiscent of natural surfaces such as foliage, rock textures, or cellular structures.

Artist Bio

I see the world in shapes and colours. With more than 30 years of experience as a creator, my art is the result of a life lived across borders and cultures. Having lived overseas and travelled widely, I’ve found that painting is the only way I can truly express myself without words. It has been my loyal companion through every season of change, giving me energy and a sense of purpose. I am deeply in love with the process of creating something new, the journey of the brush is just as important as the finished piece. My work is an intuitive response to the sights and sounds that surround me, inviting the viewer to join me in that sensory exploration. I am deeply in love with the process of creating something new, which is why I’ve learned to trust spontaneity and embrace imperfection. My work is a visceral response to my environment, not a literal record of it; it is a way of seeing the world for myself, rather than recording how others expect me to see it. By letting the energy of the moment guide my hand, I make room for the intuitive marks that define my journey. Each piece is a sensory dialogue............a response to sound, sight, and the raw joy of the unscripted path.
