My exploration of Balmain led me to a hidden gem beyond the familiar shores—a rendezvous with the White Bay Power Station. This heritage-listed former coal-fired powerhouse stands as a frozen tableau, capturing the essence of Sydney’s history within its walls. Both its external and internal components have suspended time, encapsulating the whispers of the city’s past. White Bay’s legacy as Sydney’s longest-serving power station, ceasing its hum on Christmas Day in 1983, adds a layer of nostalgia to this industrial relic, a canvas of time itself.
