Artwork Description

One of a series of 'queer horoscopes'.
A FTM trans centaur runs free, bow and arrow raised at the ready. A secondary figure, representing both Athena the Greek goddess of war and the wider LGBTQIA+ community, hovers above him, riding with him in support, bearing the Pride progress banner. This piece was created for the Coastal Twist Queer Arts and Culture Festival, to address the theme 'unity'.

Artist Bio

Fiona is a trained illustrator and graphic designer, with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design (Hon), a Master of Philosophy (she wrote her thesis on graphic novels), and more than 10 years' experience as a professional visual artist (her first job, while still in high school, was designing a billboard for Telstra). When the opportunity came to take part in exhibitions, she started creating original artworks on board in acrylic paint, pen, and collaged paper/found objects; she collects everything shiny to use on her works. Her piece in the 2019 Illustrators Australia 9x5 Exhibition was awarded Best Traditional Art; her entry in the Power to the Patients Artist Callout received a Gold Award. Also a book illustrator and author - she creates artwork for her own book covers, released under the pen name Kellen Sinclair - she is particularly dedicated to telling queer stories, being a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. In her (scant) spare time, she creates Swing Time!, a webcomic retelling of Shakespeare's gender-swapping play Twelfth Night set in the 1920s.
