I have been practicing art since I was a young person. As a teenager I attended the Victorian Artists Society and was tutored under Shirley M Bourne. I briefly attended Claremont School of Art in Perth in 1979.
Throughout my life I have had the fortune to have met and known many family friends of whom were professional artists of some note.
I'm interested in and have explored oil painting in the Meldrum tonal techniques. I am also familiar with acrylic painting, watercolors, charcoal and line.
I have completed a lot of pleine aire ink drawings.
My main interest has been in portraiture, having spent my career focusing on finding the character and likeness in individuals.
I have explored sculpture and used clay as my preferred medium and used realism as a means to translate.
I've had several hiatus' within my career which rendered me unable to practice.
I find these days I enjoy my own company, and spend a lot of time working on my own.
