Artwork Description

Soft Gaze is an intimate portrait drawn from life, where graphite and white chalk merge gracefully on toned paper to capture the quiet strength of a moment. The sitter’s expression is poised between serenity and introspection, her eyes gently alert, inviting a subtle emotional connection.

The artist's refined handling of tone and light gives the figure a sculptural presence while maintaining the softness of human vulnerability. A single pendant necklace anchors the drawing with a touch of personal narrative, suggesting a story left untold.

This piece is a timeless celebration of classical portraiture—perfect for collectors who value draftsmanship, the human form, and the emotive power of minimalism.

Artist Bio

Florencia Martin is an Argentinian/Australian visual artist based in South Fremantle. She is devoted to the quiet complexity of the human form, working primarily in oil and graphite. Her practice is rooted in classical tradition, shaped by a year studying at the Seattle atelier of Juliette Aristides and ongoing online studies through New York’s Grand Central Atelier.
Guided by a reverence for light, structure, and the inner life of her subjects, her portraits look not only for likeness, but presence — a sense of stillness that invites reflection. Through disciplined technique and attentive observation, she draws from the past to speak to something enduring in the present.
