Artwork Description

A cheerful old farmhouse sits quietly beneath big leafy trees, while a row of freshly washed sheets dances across the clothesline. Pink flowers tumble through the foreground as though they’ve decided the garden needs its own little celebration.

There’s something delightfully ordinary about the scene—the laundry, the weathered porch, the slightly wonky roofline—and that’s what gives it charm. It feels like a glimpse into a slower, sunnier world where washing was hung outside, gardens were a little unruly and houses had stories to tell.

The loose brushwork, unexpected touches of pink and blue, and slightly exaggerated shapes give the painting a whimsical, contemporary impressionistic quality.

Artist Bio

There’s so much to love and learn about painting. Art has been a life long journey for me. In particular, I appreciate the considered collection of objects in a still-life, moreover, the light and shadow, the negative space, the relationship between objects. I enjoy orchestrating the composition , the lighting and mood, to explore shapes and colour. It’s exciting to bring life to an object through brushstrokes of light and dark, eventually giving volume to the subject on the canvas.

I am currently enamored by birds… these fascinating creatures, their fragility, and their freedom. In the most human of environments, these often delicate, sometimes flamboyant feathered beings grace us with fleeting sightings! The stance of a bird can be a perfect composition, like the little Fairy wren with a tilt of its head and the jaunty angle of its tail feathers. Birds truly are a wonderment of nature.

Each painting I create is an immersion of self into art…. a tangible result of a meditative process.
