Artwork Description

Living in Fiji, you see the most brilliant sunsets, the humidity, the heat it can be hard. But the sunsets are unbelievable.
Locals say it is where clouds are born, the clouds are lower than usual and it is almost like you can touch them.
This painting is inspired one of the many amazing sunsets with brilliant colors at the breakwall in Suva.

Artist Bio

Frances is a contemporary artist and creator whose vibrant work is deeply informed by a life lived on the move. With a passion for international travel and an innate curiosity for the world, Frances draws inspiration from the diverse cultural landscapes she encounters—from the shores of Australia to the vibrant settings of Indonesia and Fiji. These journeys infuse her creative practice with a rich sense of color, texture, and adaptability.

Working predominantly with acrylics, Frances explores the medium’s versatility, bold pigmentation, and dynamic layering capabilities. Her art centers on transformation and the joy of "painting things"—whether breathing new life into everyday objects, working on structured surfaces, or translating the energy of her travels onto canvas. This painterly focus is complemented by a broader passion for hands-on creation, spanning meticulous clay modeling, sculpting, and artisanal crafting.

For Frances, art is an active, tactile pursuit. Her disciplined approach to physical movement and wellness mirrors the focus and precision she brings to the studio. Whether she is exploring a new corner of the globe or capturing its essence through acrylics, Frances creates work that celebrates the beauty of raw materials, the energy of transformation, and the endless inspiration found in the world around us.
