Artwork Description

As we drove through Karajini N/P towards Tom Price, a mining town in WA, the wild flowers were just spectacular. The pink, blues and mauve tones interspersed with golden hues, pale olive tones interspersed with the rich red earth and the mountains in the background. It was just fabulous.

Artist Bio

MY PHILOSOPHY IS: LIFE IS A JOURNEY AND NOTHING IN LIFE IS AS IT APPEARS TO BE.

My journey with painting started many years ago when Yurarra was set up in a little old barn on a property in Thornlands doing portrait work. Robert Barnes t from The Art College came to the group, we just could not get there quick enough each week to see what challenge he would bring to us that day. In 6 weeks he had us painting portraits that were incredible pieces of work. His encouragement got me to The Art College.

I have always loved the Australian landscape, the ocean, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, forests, mountainous terrains and deserts. I love the use of bright colours, varying shapes and am always amazed to see the imagery that will arise from the work. To me the landscape is a live, living spirit that speaks to you when you stop long enough to listen.

Life’s journey has helped me develop my beliefs about life experiences as only “my truth” as nothing in life is as it appears to be. A difficult belief to live by, habit dictates that I keep falling back into my old belief systems
