An Autumn Day Outing

I went out on a beautiful sunny afternoon to the Botanical garden in Williamstown, with all my plein air gear. I set up my easel overlooking this pond and started to paint. I then noticed a father and his 2 children and thought I have to place them in my painting. They are quite the focal point, and they help to emphasise the enjoyment people receive from these beautiful parks and gardens.
This painting is on a canvas board, and requires framing to be hung.

My name is Franciska Howard and art is my passion.

I have been attending weekly art lessons with William Kerr since 2009 and I have also undertaken some workshops with Kasey Sealy, Ray Hewitt, David Payne, Caroline Lewellen and Ben Winspear. I also have learnt a great deal from viewing art tutorials on You Tube.

I paint mainly with oils and occasionally I have tried pastel painting. I am striving to paint paintings that depict the subject matter in a not so formal way, and to use broken colour. I enjoy a variety of subject matters, and am fortunate to live in such an inspiring locale, full of nature, history, and beaches.

Each time I pick up my brush it brings me one step closer to understanding the process of creating art, and also that there is always something new for me to learn. It makes creating art a continually evolving journey of discovery, which has me totally obsessed.
