Freya Skarsgard is a figurative and realist artist who lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. Freya’s work introduces a personal dimension into the vastness and magnitude of imaginary worlds.
Most of Freya’s research is concerned with the role of contemporary romanticism and ecology as a means of processing personal experiences gained in the dialogue of human and nature. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, she transforms familiar realities by suspending bias and previous knowledge, exploring the qualities of liminal space between reality and constructed genre scenes, making these tangibly present through the act of painting.
Freya maintains a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts completed at RMIT University, Australia. Her paintings have been placed in private collections in Australia and Northern Europe.
