Artist Bio

Funda Ayhan is an artist and fashion textile designer who completed a Fine Arts course at the Istanbul Cagaloglu Girls' Fine Arts Institute and the Nisantasi LCC Art Painting School. After moving to Australia, she graduated from the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design at St. George's TAFE, Sydney, and won first place in the Fashion Custom Design competition. She also earned a Diploma in Graphic Design from Design Enmore Centre, Sydney TAFE NSW.

She then took a short course in Painting at Hazelhurst Arts Centre, and I'm attending another painting course at Hazelhurst Arts.
Funda is an emerging artist working from her home in Sydney. She primarily works with oil, acrylic, and watercolour, employing a pictorial style that merges Impressionism and Realism. She takes international tourism photographs and paints her home portraits.
Her strong interest in portraiture forms the basis of her work. Her main aim is to capture the abstract essence of a subject while staying true to their physical form. She approaches still life, landscapes, and contemporary"home portraits" with the same philosophy. Funda's landscapes often explore the relationship between built and natural environments, intertwined with themes of nostalgia and identity. Her still life works aim to elevate the ordinary, celebrating the simple beauty found in small scenes and quiet moments.
