Artwork Description

Influenced by prolific Australian artist, Rosalie Gascoigne. This artwork is created using found materials, rearranging recycled materials to create a new message. This case, paint splattered floorboards, have been rearranged.

The combination of natural grain, industrial remnants, and gestural paint draws attention to contrasts: order and chaos, craft and accident, presence and absence. The artwork occupies a space between painting and sculpture, text and texture, memory and reinvention.

Artist Bio

A former advertising writer and director, Fysh Rutherford has spent the last 30 years exploring the art of assemblage. As a third-generation Australian, his work is deeply rooted in the textures, colors, and narratives of the Australian outback, drawing inspiration from the evocative compositions of Rosalie Gascoigne. Rutherford’s assemblages transform found objects into poetic landscapes, revealing the quiet beauty of weathered materials and forgotten histories. His practice is a dialogue between past and present, industry and nature—where discarded fragments find new meaning through careful curation and construction.
