Artwork Description

What draws me to painting human portraits are the unique characteristics of the human face along with any unusual co-elements in the composition, as well an any authentic takes on either ethnicity or age.

I like to paint the human face using colourful and vibrant expressive elements that put the person portrayed in context.

Besides depicting artful portraits, I also accept commission work as a special memento to honour your family member or best friend.

This portrait was drawn or painted using lightfast coloured pencils on archival paper.

Artist Bio

From Naturopathy to Art

After retiring from my naturopathic practice in 2019, I rekindled my artistic passion that I had let lie dormant for over 40 years. As a teenager, I loved to draw with a simple graphite pencil, taking my inspiration mainly from postcards that I had collected on family trips around Victoria, Australia.

Today, I use artist-grade coloured pencils and, increasingly, soft pastels. I love to depict people, animals and all things shiny, always aiming for realistic portrayal in my art.

In my paintings I love to convey boldness, vibrancy and character as expressed in the vivid colours of nature, our spectacular Aussie wildlife, the cuteness of our companion animals, the unique 'landscapes' of the human face and the wowser of shiny man-made objects.

I hope you'll enjoy my colourful artworks on your wall.
