Artwork Description

Bioluminescent Rift explores the moment when hidden light pushes through layers of depth and pressure. Painted using fluid acrylic techniques and luminous pigments, the composition evokes a glowing fissure emerging through aquatic greens and mineral blues. Veins of coral and neon red surge upward like a deep-sea flare, illuminating the surrounding strata with an otherworldly intensity.

The layered cellular structures and drifting forms resemble underwater topography or the slow movement of tectonic plates beneath an illuminated ocean surface. Glow pigments embedded in the paint subtly transform under low light, revealing an additional dimension of radiance that shifts as the environment changes.

At 8” x 10”, the piece functions like a window into a living landscape—part marine abyss, part geological fracture—where colour and movement converge. The work invites the viewer to contemplate hidden energies beneath calm surfaces and the beauty of light emerging from pressure.

Artist Bio

Gabrielle Lawson – Artist Biography
Magill, South Australia

Gabrielle Lawson is a multidisciplinary artist based in South Australia, working from her home studio where she has been actively developing her creative practice over the past two years. Guided by intuition and curiosity, her work embraces exploration across mediums and techniques, allowing each piece to emerge organically through experimentation and discovery.

Her practice spans vibrant abstract compositions as well as more contemplative, detail-driven works, unified by a playful yet thoughtful approach to colour, movement, and emotional expression. Each artwork represents a moment within an ongoing personal and artistic journey, reflecting both spontaneity and introspection.

Outside the studio, Gabrielle finds inspiration in quiet rituals and imaginative worlds — spending time with her cat Coco, reading, and immersing herself in the rich visual narratives of Final Fantasy. These influences subtly inform her love of storytelling, atmosphere, and expressive form.

Her studio serves as both sanctuary and creative laboratory, a space dedicated to experimentation, reflection, and growth. Gabrielle welcomes connection with fellow artists, collectors, and those who feel drawn to the joy, curiosity, and magic of making art.
