Gary Yeomans Artist
I am an acrylic painter inspired by the stories woven into everyday life—family connections, personal moments, and the beauty of both natural and man-made landscapes. Each painting I create tells a story, leaving space for the viewer’s imagination to complete the narrative.
Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Australia at nineteen and now work from my studio in Wallabadah, NSW. I also paint at Random Rural Atelier and Gallery in Willow Tree, as well as Thappraya Art Zone in Pattaya, Thailand. Part of the year, I take my work on the road, traveling to new places that influence my next series.
Deeply influenced by the Impressionists, I strive for a balance between detail and suggestion—placing just enough information on the canvas for collectors to engage with the scene in their own way. My technique, developed over the years, is largely self-taught. Though I work in acrylics, my paintings have the depth and texture often associated with oils. I use a specific type of acrylic paint with unique properties that shape my approach.
I love working in series, each starting with a simple idea that evolves into layered storytelling. For example, my sunflower series began with painting sunflowers, but it truly came to life when I introduced figures to tell a deeper story.
My next creative challenge is exploring lighthouses—how they connect with people and the stories they hold.
Since starting my journey, I have sold over 500 paintings, built a strong collector base, and often have people stop me to share how much my work resonates with them. My art is about connection—both to the subjects I paint and to those who bring my work into their homes.
