Although I’ve always had a passion for design and art I only started painting 6 years ago. I grew up on a farm in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia and our weekends and holidays were spent doing arts and crafts, sewing and gardening.
I never really considered painting as part of my life as most of my attention was on providing a beautiful home for my husband and son. Although I continued to do crafts, cooking and gardening I didn’t really consider I was good enough to paint.
Having a busy life, I then took a step back and started dabbling in water colours and acrylics. I did some online courses and also some group workshops. My Mother-In-Law is an artist and she also gave me some one on one tuition.
I have always had an interest in Interior Design and in 2015 I completed my Diploma in Interior Design with the Interior Design Institute. As an addition to this I have completed a number of Art Workshops online and in studios and have a real passion for painting.
After doing the group workshops I decided to try and allocate some time each week to painting. I’m still learning and love attending workshops with different techniques. It is inspiring learning with others and I enjoy the social connection.
I have recently been entering various Art Exhibitions and hope to gain some exposure through these and also the internet.
In addition to my paintings I have also been doing a series of prints featuring some of the rural lifestyle, wildlife and flowers that I love.
I find that painting makes me relax and I get great satisfaction out of a finished artwork. The only problem is I never know when to finish.
