Three Gums

Three gums is inspired but the three gumtrees in my backyard. They bring me company, awe and a connection with the earth. I wanted to capture their beauty as the sun sets on a summer day and how the light gently warms the gumtrees trunk and branches turning them to yellow. Gumtrees will always be symbol of home and no less than the three that stand tall and proud in my own backyard.

I paint but I also write poetry so I’m interested in vulnerability and what exists when we remove ourselves from the conversation. I want to explore what it means to go beyond being human. I hope that my art challenges the viewer on many levels. With its richness in colour, the movement, the energetic brushwork and its abstract nature. There’s an intensity to my art, because there’s an intensity to me. Not many of us feel brave enough to explore the rich, deep depths of our being. That’s where I like to go when I’m painting. That is what you can see on the canvas.
