Genevieve has always had a love of creating art and painting. During the day she works as a film director and script writer, at night, she paints vivid, vibrant and spontaneous abstracts and expressionistic still life works inspired by the colours, textures and scenes of her home in the Blue Mountains. Her work is underpinned by joy. She expresses the robust feelings of happiness found in life's simple pleasures. Scenes of tea and vases of flowers depart from a realistic representation. Inspired by the stylistic qualities of fauvism and folk art, Genevieve's work pushes what could be considered 'mundane' into a playful spectrum of patterns and colours. She is also an advocate for the arts, serving as a volunteer for three years on the NSW arts, culture advisory board committee for the minster for the arts.
