In this painting I capture a quiet moment of pause along a garden path. Two figures stand together, looking ahead into the dense greenery, as if deciding where to go next. I was interested in conveying the feeling of being surrounded by nature — that moment when a path opens forward and the landscape invites slow observation rather than movement.
Watercolour allows me to keep the scene light and atmospheric. The foliage is painted with layered washes of greens that suggest depth and movement without defining every leaf or branch. The figures remain simple and understated, almost blending into the environment, emphasizing the sense of calm and immersion in the landscape.
My approach reflects the influence of French Impressionist landscape painting, particularly the sensitivity to light and colour found in artists such as Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro. At the same time, the loose brushwork and the immediacy of the scene connect to the tradition of **plein-air painting**, where the artist seeks to capture a passing moment and the atmosphere of a place.
For me, this work is about the quiet companionship of walking and discovering nature together — a small moment of stillness within a living landscape.
