The laughing Kookaburra is part of the Kingfisher family and has one of the most recognisable and famous bird calls in the world. Whilst visiting Wilsons Prom (Victoria) I was treated to morning and evening choruses of their distinctive laugh. I always imagine that the early settlers and explorers would have been completely freaked out by this laugh erupting from the bush like some madman was out to get them!
