A friend of mine was living in France when he took this photo which he agreed to let me use. In the foreground there was a Starbucks Coffee Shop, and having also travelled in Europe recently I was dismayed at the amount of American fast food outlets pervading even the most established of cultures. To emphasis this, I have placed a MacDonald's and a KFC in the background. The title 'The Crossing', whilst literally describing the scene, is also a statement about the crossover between cultures.
