Embraced by Light Ed. 1 of 20

For this I used one of a number of photographs I had ready as references for another artwork (soon to be added to my Bluethumb profile). Lately, I've been inspired by the artist Daniel Maidman, from the US, whose life-drawings on various coloured papers are exquisite. I enjoyed using light mediums on a dark surface, and focus more so on light and highlights, rather that shades and shadows. It's been a real mood lifter, and an opportunity to look at the subjects focused on differently.

Important Note: The prints will have a white border around them, partly because this gives greater flexibility regarding any framing the buyer chooses to purchase and use, and also to allow room for me to personally pencil the words " 'Embraced by the Light', By Geoff Treagus, Limited Edition Print, 1 of 20"

I have always loved being creative, although I think my earliest memory of thinking, "This is what I want to do!" was when I lived briefly in the UK as a child, in the late 1980s, influenced by articles on Blue Peter, cartoons of the time, the satirical characters of Spitting Images, and the many art galleries and museums I had access to at this time.

In time, I learned to be enthralled by narrative, the human figure, and nature. Later, interest in surrealism and abstraction were added to my mix of interests.

I'm happy to try almost anything. I enjoy working with acrylics, oils, any drawing medium, and photographic techniques and technology.

In more recent years especially, my appreciation for how art and creativity can build connections between people and the environs we live in, has well and truly value added to everything I do and am involved in.
