Artwork Description

Acrylic on paper

Signed on the front.

What could we say about pork? That deliciously succulent 'other' white meat, with fat you can eat!

I do eat healthy food. Even salad. At least once a month. Anyway, pork is good for you. What are you, the health police? And I'm not a redneck. Not at all. You don't have to be a WASP to enjoy good food. Or have siblings for parents. Or congenital anomalies.

No seriously now, pork is good stuff! Makes one think of those adverts from days of yore, when the butcher shop had sawdust on the floor. The billboards, the advertising murals on the side wall of the local shop. Housewives who made a special trip once a week to get the family groceries. On the bus because the family only had the one car. Dad would come by after work and pick up the shopping in the EK Holden station wagon [mine did - it was light blue with a white roof, much like the poster.]

And the STYLE in all the advertising: The shadowed lettering, with the outlines, in a classic font and calming and appealing colours. The attention to detail in the artwork [all analogue, of course, and lovingly created.] The hard sell. "EAT PORK." A world lost in time. But fondly recalled in the delightful poster Pork My Favourite Fruit.
