Dusk Looking Out Over Aran Islands

This piece came from a photo I took whilst staying on the west coast of Ireland, in a cottage that overlooked the Aran Islands. It offers a moody picture, and I wanted to capture the perspective of the town rendered tiny and twinkling beneath the vast, swirling evening sky. I also wanted to play with the colours slightly, adding purples and pinks for a dramatic skyscape.

My art is inspired by quiet moments in nature: evenings with colours in the sky that will never appear the same way again, things that won’t be again, the always-changing, impermanence of the natural world.
