I am a landscape artist, I paint the landscape of the world around me and the landscape of my mind.
My works are influenced by my mental health conflicts and how the world around me affects my sense of self. I am most motivated to create when I am overwhelmed by my thoughts and emotions, often in a state of existential crisis. My artwork is the expression of my mind, and the subject matter determines my painting style, whether it is a gesso form, a detailed and realistic method, or abstract strokes. An outdoor landscape of mine tends to be very soft in the skies, there is no softness in the landscape of my mind.
My practice changes as I develop my sense of self and skill. My paintings are predominately oil and not often bigger than a medium size, as I like to be in control of the work, sit down with it at eye level and see every corner it. Oil paint gives me a chance to work with the same concept over and over week in, week out.
