Shakti is a term used in Hinduism that describes the unseen force of nature moving through the cosmos. Shakti is power, strength, creativity and emotion and embodies the divine feminine, the goddess. This painting was inspired by a friend of mine who found me this leaf on his walk at Arthur's Seat in Victoria. I was captivated by the earth-like elements in the leaf, the vast watery tones and shapes, looking almost like Earth from above. To me it encompasses the oneness and connectedness of Mother Earth, from the microcosm to the macrocosm - her patterns, colours and shapes can be seen throughout all of nature and the cosmos.

Artist Bio
Georgie River is an emerging artist based in Mullumbimby, Northern NSW, Australia. Her work explores her relationship with the natural world around her, mostly of, and created on, Bundjalung Nation where she resides.
Mainly self taught, she experiments using acrylics, oils and dry ground pigments, preferring to intuitively work with paint and create from a place of feeling.
Through a deep reverence and connection to nature her work acts as a communication between herself and the land, seeking to express visually what is felt viscerally.
Georgie communicates her connection to the earth and this land through her work - from the study of fallen leaves to the observation of sacred place, using a combination of acrylics, oils and ink.
