The sea and fishing trips were an integral part of my childhood in the Mediterranean south of France and hold great nostalgic value for me. This painting is a modern take on a typical fishing boat leaving the Mediterranean coastline in the early morning, a seagull hovering above. A pink haze softens the loneliness of this departure to sea.
