Artwork Description

Didactic:
A kaleidoscope of colour and white light, a testament to a vibrant and auspicious life. Serendipitous markings encouraging freedom and play, while thick textures offers sanctuary. An ideal piece for living spaces.

Methodology: intuitive diagonal markings created with oil paint and a pallet knife, silver leaf placed to mimic.

Influences: Jackson Pollock, Abstraction, Impressionism, Cubism, Egyptian gold and silver leafing.

Artist Bio

Originally born in New Zealand, Ghita is now based in Currumbin (Gold Coast), Queensland, Australia. A keen painter, Ghita has exhibited her oil paintings at the Centre for Contemporary Art (Christchurch, NZ 1996) and the exclusive Hale Exhibition (Perth, Australia 2010). Ghita Andersen is also a Book Illustrator and Art Therapist.

​Ghita sells her work online and through social media. Ghita's oil paintings have been auctioned for charity events in Australasia and she was featured and televised as 'Artist in Residence' at the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch in the late 90s.

Ghita has illustrated two Environmental Books for the Australian Children's Nature Series by Dereka Ogden and one self-authored New Age Spiritual Manual, 'Light Upon the billabong' (Amazon Books). Ghita is also a keynote speaker on issues for women and has fundraised to stop Human Trafficking in India and Nepal.

Ghita won an award for creating the Gold Coast Green Week logo for the Gold Coast Environmental Council (Gecko). Ghita has also created a illustrated series of Christmas cards for Stender Greeting Cards International (Copenhagen, Denmark) which are still in circulation. Ghita also creates fun graphics for souvenir merchandise on her store on CafePress.

Ghita's inspiration comes from Post Impressionism, Japanese Woodblock Prints, Mid-Century Modern Architecture/ Furniture, Bauhaus School Posters, Pop Art, Graphic Design/ Surf Art, Urban Graffiti and Environmental Campaigns.
