Technical Water 2023

Didactic:
Two beach front towers, glowing in the morning hours, their height echoed on the gentle Creek water merging Palm Beach to Currumbin. The metallic textures break up the perpetual waves without dividing the peace, instead inviting a sense of harmony. The vibrant orange mimics the red morning sun and animates the artwork.

Materials: Gold leaf, Copper leaf, Silver leaf, oil on canvas.

Methodology: layered oil paint with pallet knife to build texture, metallic leafing for lustre.
Influences: Japanese woodblock prints, impressionism (Monet), Egyptian gold and silver leafing, Gustav Klimt.

Originally born in New Zealand, Ghita is now based in Currumbin (Gold Coast), Queensland, Australia. A keen painter, Ghita has exhibited her oil paintings at the Centre for Contemporary Art (Christchurch, NZ 1996) and the exclusive Hale Exhibition (Perth, Australia 2010). Ghita Andersen is also a Book Illustrator and Art Therapist.

​Ghita sells her work online and through social media. Ghita's oil paintings have been auctioned for charity events in Australasia and she was featured and televised as 'Artist in Residence' at the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch in the late 90s.

Ghita has illustrated two Environmental Books for the Australian Children's Nature Series by Dereka Ogden and one self-authored New Age Spiritual Manual, 'Light Upon the billabong' (Amazon Books). Ghita is also a keynote speaker on issues for women and has fundraised to stop Human Trafficking in India and Nepal.

Ghita won an award for creating the Gold Coast Green Week logo for the Gold Coast Environmental Council (Gecko). Ghita has also created a illustrated series of Christmas cards for Stender Greeting Cards International (Copenhagen, Denmark) which are still in circulation. Ghita also creates fun graphics for souvenir merchandise on her store on CafePress.

Ghita's inspiration comes from Post Impressionism, Japanese Woodblock Prints, Mid-Century Modern Architecture/ Furniture, Bauhaus School Posters, Pop Art, Graphic Design/ Surf Art, Urban Graffiti and Environmental Campaigns.
