Artwork Description

The Kalachakra, meaning “Wheel of Time” in Sanskrit, is a profound concept in Tibetan Buddhism. It encompasses teachings on cosmology, astrology, and spiritual practice, aiming to harmonize the external world with the inner self. The Kalachakra Tantra is considered one of the most complex and esoteric teachings, offering a path to enlightenment through understanding time and cycles.

This painting is based on the design and book of the Dalai Lama that emphasizes the Kalachakra’s role in promoting peace and compassion, highlighting its relevance in today’s turbulent times. He discusses how the Kalachakra initiation serves as a powerful tool for personal and societal transformation.

Made In Boudha, Kathmandu, Nepal, monks pray over every mandala created. As Kathmandu is a tantric city, these mandalas serve as powerful tools to harmonize the external world with the inner self.

Artist Bio

As a passionate advocate for traditional Himalayan art, I am deeply committed to preserving and promoting the sacred beauty of Nepali Mandala and Thangka art. My artistic journey is rooted in the rich spiritual heritage of Nepal, where each piece is more than just a visual expression - it is a meditative tool, a symbol of harmony, and a gateway to inner peace.

All the artworks in my collection are sourced directly from skilled artisans in Nepal, many of whom come from generations of devoted Thangka painters and Mandala creators. These artists use time-honoured techniques, including hand-ground mineral pigments and gold leaf, to ensure every piece embodies both authenticity and soul. Through my work, I strive to honour their craftsmanship and bring their timeless stories to the global stage.

My goal is to introduce Australian and international audiences to the intricate symbolism and spiritual essence of handmade Mandalas and Thangkas - forms that carry deep meanings in Buddhism and Hinduism. Whether it is the precise geometry of a Mandala or the divine figures in a Thangka, each piece invites contemplation, mindfulness, and cultural appreciation.

By showcasing this sacred art, I hope to not only preserve an ancient tradition but also inspire a deeper connection between art, culture, and the human spirit.
