Eagle Dreaming

Eagle Dreaming represents the eagle, a totem of Wonnarua Country and a symbol of my connection to my paternal grandfather's Country.

The eagle is shown moving across Country, surrounded by flowing patterns representing the landscape and waterways. In the top corner is the traditional symbol representing Wonnarua Country and place.

For me, this artwork is about family, ancestry and connection to Country. It honours my paternal grandfather's Country and the cultural knowledge, stories and connections carried through generations.

since 1993 I have painted professionally and loved every minute of it. My biggest influence in both art and life is my Dad. He was a successful artist,storyteller, community elder and traditional man. Though sadly he has passed now I hold strong my ties to my tribes and respect and protect our stories. Most of my art recounts my family stories passed on by Dad,mum,nan & great grandparents. I come from the Gidabul/Ngarkabul/Widjabul on mums side & Wonnarua/ Dhunghutti on my Dads.

I also share my passion for art by facilitating workshops for children teaching them all about my wonderful culture and art. I am very fortunate to work with and mentor vulnerable women both indigenous and non-indigenous through art, listening and sharing. I hold yarning circles with the indigenous women at a womens rehabilitation centre. we are able to hold such a sacred space really creates a safe space for healing.
