I wanted this piece to be like worn out etchings and emotions upon an ancient wall which has been rendered and sanded over countless times over many decades. Almost like life itself; layer upon layer of words received through the forming of friendships and relationships make an indelible mark that form and shape our worlds.
Lines from a romantic poem scribbled hastily upon a wall can still speak although weathered and not very legible :
'Set me as a seal upon your heart
as a seal upon your arm
for love is as strong as death
jealousy as cruel as the grave..
..many waters cannot quench love'
Song 8:6-7
This is the 3rd in the Abstract + chinese calligraphy series. The frame for this piece has been constructed out of recycled skirting boards to carry on the emphasis of life being able to continue onwards even though being discarded.
